Local Information

Parking

Please note: Parking is limited at the conference venue. Attendees may have to find streetside parking spots.

Limited on-campus parking is available at the UF Visitor Welcome Center parking garage, located just south of the Reitz Student Union at the corner of Museum Road and Reitz Union Drive. (map) Conference attendees will need to print and display a copy of this dowloadable parking permit. There will be a parking attendant at the garage who will begin reserving the 25 spaces at 7:30 a.m. on both days to ensure the spaces will be available. The attendant will reserve those spaces until 9:00 a.m. each morning. Vehicles may remain parked as long as need. There are 25 spaces reserved for each day. Note: These passes are intended only for our out-of-town conferees. Thank you

Although the reserved spaces will be released after 9 a.m. each day, attendees arriving on campus later may still be able to find parking in the garage. This garage is an unrestricted pay facility available to campus visitors and all members of the University community; it offers short-term and all-day parking options. Attendees without a UF parking pass should not park elsewhere on campus at the risk of being ticketed or towed.

Public parking: Alternative parking is available at the public parking garage just north of campus. Its entrance is on NW 2nd Avenue between NW 12th Street and 13th Street and can be accessed from either direction. (map) This garage has reasonable daily rates, plenty of available spaces, and accepts payment by credit card. This garage is just north of University avenue and just north of the A.C. Hotel.

Length

You should plan on having minutes presentation time. We suppose this to be the principal guide in judging the length of the paper you send. It is the norm at SEP meetings for speakers to present rather than read their papers (and this is a virtue), so it is to be expected that presentation time and page length will only loosely correlate.

That said, do please bear in mind that a referee needs to both grasp the content of your paper and be able to readily envisage how you could present it in the available time. So, if your paper runs long, you might for this reason want to prepare a shortened version.
